Flowers in the winter in the room

Under the influence of cold, not only winter crops develop as spring crops, but other processes in plant life are significantly accelerated. For example, spring awakening of plants can be caused much earlier after their artificial short cold dormancy, and in those plants in which spring awakening begins blooming, they can cause blooming in winter. So let's look at how to get flowers in the winter in the room.

So let's look at how to get flowers in the winter in the room

In the old days, there were many customs, rituals, fortunetelling, when people, not being able to explain many unusual phenomena of nature, considered them miracles or indications of fate. There was a very beautiful fortune-telling: the girls wanted to know their fate, for which purpose they picked up bunches of cherry branches a month before the new year and put them in the water in the room. By the new year, some branches were blooming, which was considered an indication of fate. Itís so pleasant and joyful to have cherry blossoming branches in a room in winter that itís worth it to spend a little time, all the more so since it is done so simply. The whole thing lies in the cold peace that flower buds must survive, even if turning a very short time, after which they bloom in the room. As soon as the first winter frosts pass, you can already take cherry branches for flowering in the room. You need to choose branches with flower buds; the latter usually sit crowded at the ends of two-year-old shoots. Such branches should either be cut with a very sharp knife, or it is better to tear them off, but not break off. In this case, it is important that the conductive vessels are not crushed at the fracture or slice; therefore, it is impossible to use scissors or a blunt knife that can crush them and damage them. With a fracture, it is also easy to crush the conducting vessels, and then they will not supply water well to the kidneys and leaves. A branch torn off or cut off with a very sharp knife will not be damaged.

Put branches cut in such a way in a bottle with water and place in a warm place, and it is often necessary to change the water, otherwise the water will rot and ruin the flowers. Flowers should be kept in clean air (for example, even tobacco smoke destroys them). After a week, you can notice the swelling of the buds and the whitening of their tips (emerging petals), and after another week the twigs will bloom and last 1-2 weeks with flowers.

In addition to cherries, flowers can also be obtained in winter in a room in many trees in which flowers appear earlier or simultaneously with leaves (bird cherry, plum, Judas tree, etc.). An apple tree and a pear bloom less often under these conditions, since their flowers appear a little later than the leaves.

That the main role is played by the cold, it is easy to see if you take the branches to frost: they usually do not bloom. But they are easy to make bloom, influencing them with artificial cold, for example, after holding 1-2 days in the glacier. After that, they will bloom in the same way as those taken after frost. Thus, all fall and winter, you can have flowering cherry branches in the room.

Cold can be replaced by other means (to a certain extent, suppressing the life of the kidneys), for example, some drugs. This is the basis for the production of blooming lilacs in winter, etc. In autumn, lilac bushes are dug up and kept in pots in a cold basement (not frosty). As needed, the bushes are taken and subjected to etherization, that is, they are kept for some time in ether vapors, and then they are taken out into the heat and into the light (lilac first develops leaves and therefore needs light). After 2-3 weeks, the lilac blooms.

It is very difficult to make a lilac branch bloom without etherization, since it absorbs water very poorly without roots (this is very well proven by the fact that cut lilacs put into water will wilt much faster than other flowers).

You can make many plants bloom in the winter in the room by applying the action of cold or ether.
