Therefore, the time of occurrence of soldering can be judged only by archaeological findings. And the finds indicate that a few thousand years ago in Egypt, Greece, China, on the Apennine peninsula, rations were used to make jewelry and household utensils. The first solders were gold and silver. Much later, several centuries before our era, Etruscan masters mastered the secret of copper soldering. To solder gold items by it became much more convenient.

The ancient Romans, strangely enough, did not have a special ability for rations. However, they already knew tin-lead solders and used them to connect lead water pipes in their homes. They knew the secrets of soldering in Russia. Already in the 4-5 centuries blacksmiths of the Upper Volga region brazed steel knives, and in Kievan Rus copper brazing alloys were widely used in the manufacture of weapons, locks, keys and other iron and steel products.

In the 11th century, first in China, and then in India, brass brazing became known. And only in the 17th century this method spread in Europe. And even then they believe that the Dutch have borrowed its secret from the Chinese.

And the scientific fundamentals of soldering were laid in the 18th century: a composition of solders was developed, exact melting points were determined. Since then, soldering has become widely used in all industries.
