Rhodonite

Rhodonite is a manganese silicate. It is result in the special conditions the contact of magma with sediments rich in manganese. Mineral rhodonite is small, in stone-cutting and in fact used rhodonite rock - orlets, which consists of a large number of various manganese minerals. The name comes from the Greek word "pink". Synonym rhodonite: ruby spar.

Rhodonite may be clear, but infrequently, translucent, opaque, usually translucent in thin chips. Sometimes it is dotted with brown or black streaks and spots of oxides of manganese.

Rhodonite color is pink, pink-red, reddish-brown, raspberry, cherry, pink-gray, often streaked with black manganese. Rhodonite is harder malachite and has sufficient viscosity, well polished and retains the characteristic pearlescent shine.

Rhodonite is used as jewelry and ornamental stone, in which in addition to the eponymous mineral are black dendrites and veins of manganese hydroxides and oxides, brown areas bustamita, inezita fiber and other impurities that give the stone a high decorative effect. It used for the manufacture of jewelry and decorative art products. Rhodonite is treated in the form of cabochons.
