Scientists finally did not find out the reasons for such a long and uninterrupted work Yangantau, although for the first time an unusual mountain in the Southern Urals began talking 200 years ago. Many hypotheses have been put forward about the nature of the thermal phenomena of the mountain: an underground fire from lightning, the reaction of the transition of iron oxide salts to oxide salts, combustion of low bituminous rocks, radioactive heat, etc.

And in the meantime Yangantau became known for one more reason. This time as a mountain doctor. Yangantau has a sanatorium where various difficult illnesses are successfully treated with hot steam: hypertension, radiculitis, rheumatism. Patients take gas and steam baths in conjunction with the water of a local mineral spring, which turned out to be saturated with radon and other valuable elements. The Yangantau mountain is also known for sulfur and zinc sources, which became the basis for the creation of the balneological resort Yangantau.

The Yangantau mountain is stretched from the East to the West for 2,5 km along the right bank of the river Juruzan. The absolute height of the mountain is 143 meters, the height above the level of the river Juruzan is 160 meters.

Banks, oaks and aspens grow on the slopes of the Yangantau mountain. Preserved pine trees speak of primary coniferous forests. On the mountain and its environs, shrub meadow-steppe complexes of steppe cherry, low almond, caragan, dogrose, spindle of warty and feather grass, fescue, thyme are common. The Yangantau mountain has been a natural monument since 1965.
