Shadows

The interesting shadows cast by objects when the sun shines? With shadows, above all, very easy to determine the height of a tree standing alone. Stuck vertically into the ground pole, measure the height and the length of its shadow, and the length of the shadow cast by a tree. It remains to calculate the rule: how many times longer than the shadow of a tree shadow of the pole, so many times above the tree pole.

Shade is optical phenomenon manifested visually perceptible silhouette arising on an arbitrary surface through the presence of the object (the body or substance, such as liquid or gaseous state) between it and the light source.

For example, in the shadow cast by the canopy of deciduous tree, small spots of light are scattered. Note their shape: this elongated circles (ellipses), in spite of the fact that the gaps between the leaves, transmitted light, are never rounded.

The concept of the "shadow" has a lot of allegorical, metaphorical and figurative meanings present in everyday life, literature, art and psychology. Special attention is paid to this concept in philosophy.
