Coral castle

A huge number of megalithic buildings on our planet leave no one indifferent. As the ancient engineers erected a huge and in scale, and the size of the used blocks of the structure remains a mystery. But were there such things in our time? We can say with confidence - yes! And this is Coral castle in California (USA).

Coral Castle is a complex of huge statues and megaliths weighing 1100 tons, built by hand, without the use of machines. The complex includes a two-storey square tower weighing 243 tons, various structures, massive walls, an underground pool with a spiral staircase, a map of Florida, coarsely hewn chairs, a table in the form of a heart, an accurate sundial, stone Mars and Saturn, as well as a 30-ton month, with its horn pointing to Polar Star, and much more. All this is located on an area of more than 40 hectares.

And the history of the castle began, as it does not sound trite, from the story of the unhappy love of the Latvian Edward Lidskalninsha to Agnes Skaffs. A young man (Edward was 26 at that time) offered the arm and heart to 16-year-old Agnes, but the offer was rejected in a rude form - the boyfriend was called a poor old man!

Having emigrated to the USA, after wandering around Texas and California, Edward Lindskalninsh in 1920 settled in Florida. "Dohljak" (according to the neighbors), a small (152 cm, 45 kg) and weak in appearance Edward alone for 20 years, manually built his Coral Castle, dragging huge blocks from the coast limestone, and hewed blocks out of it without using even a primitive jackhammer - all the tools he made from abandoned car remains.

They say that to break the blocks, he used the original technology: in dense limestone, using a homemade chisel, punched holes and inserted into them old car dampers, pre-red-hot. Then Edward poured cold water on them, and the iron broke the stone into pieces. So say eyewitnesses, but the laws of physics can not be deceived - if you pour water on a red-hot iron, then it will decrease in volume and the stone can not be broken.

And the way Edward moved and raised the multi-ton blocks to build the Coral castle remains an even greater mystery: he was very secretive and worked exclusively at night. Numerous attempts by curious neighbors to see how the work is progressing have not been successful.
