RAM installed in the computer, has a significant impact on its performance. From its amount depends on which programs can run on your computer. Each program makes certain demands on the amount of RAM. It will be very slow if the memory is not enough, or did not start. For example, Windows XP operating system requires at least 64 MB of RAM.

On the other hand, the larger the memory, the better. Technically its maximum amount is limited only by the motherboard features. On average, motherboards support between 1024 and 4096 MB of RAM.

RAM can be of two basic types:

  1. Dynamic RAM, DRAM;
  2. Static RAM, SRAM.

Speed SRAM static memory is greater than the speed of dynamic DRAM. However, static RAM is much more dynamic. Typically, dynamic random access memory is used as an operational and memory. Static memory is used as cache memory in processors, hard disks on motherboards.
