In Madagascar, Ravenala grows on cleared forest areas with sand, clay and loamy moist soil with good drainage. Positively responds to fertilizer. Susceptibility to disease and pests. Photophilous plant blooms best in direct sunlight. Propagation takes place by means of seeds. The plant must be protected from strong winds.

Ravenala is one of the most beautiful trees in nature. Often it is grown in tropical countries parks. Usually it planted outdoors, but may grow and indoors, in greenhouses, where there is sufficient light.

Ravenala leaves are used as roofing material, building material like leaf veins. Containing starch seeds and young leaves are edible. The seeds are ground and make flour. Divided in half and hollowed trunk of a tree is traditionally used in Madagascar for roofing.

Another sort of like a tree found in the arid regions of Central Africa. Mussanga it's called. Water is extracted from the tree, making a shallow cut on his trunk.
