Gold chain of the Incas

Peru has been a legend for many centuries, in which the huge gold chain of the Incas, allegedly rests on the bottom of a mountain lake near the village of Urkos. This story began a long time ago. In the late 15th century, the penultimate Inca ruler Vaina Kapaka was born a long-awaited son. In memory of this event the happy father ordered his masters to make a gold chain that could be girdled from all sides by the central square in his capital Cusco. A lot of time was spent on the unusual gold chain of the Incas, but here a giant 400-meter, weighing several tons, the chain was forged and presented as a gift to the baby. According to the legend, in order to raise it, it took the efforts of two hundred people.

Peru has been a legend for many centuries, in which the huge gold chain of the Incas, allegedly rests on the bottom of a mountain lake near the village of Urkos

Years passed, and on the Incas land stepped uninvited guests of the Spanish and Portuguese conquistadors, who showed special interest in the gold and silver of the ancient inhabitants of America. To them they did not get the unique gold chain of the Incas, they threw it into the waters of a deep lake near the village of Urkos.

Here, at great depths, wrapped in a mudcloth, and the medieval relic of the Peruvian people rests - the Inca's many-toned gold chain. This lake is a water filled volcano crater. The bottom of it is covered with a multimeter layer of firing mud and silt. Even modern technical means of archaeologists do not allow to penetrate into the gloomy silent depths of the lake, but seekers do not want to pass before difficulties. Proposed, for example, such a project: to dig a long underground tunnel, through which it will be possible to release all water from Urkos, and from the bottom of the drained lake to raise the gold chain of the Incas. However, many scholars who study the history of the ancient peoples of Latin America are skeptical of this legend, and therefore they are not yet willing to finance an expensive but doubtful project.
